Free-time follies

This is a sample of a free-time creation (courtesy of Madelyn). She has nested her stuffed toy bat in a basket, strapped her into a baby-doll "carseat" and put a plug-in video game system/joystick in front.

They love to play in my Thai mat. When I told Madelyn it looked like she was being born, she mimicked a crying infant.

Behind that chair, the kids are engaged in an ongoing, elaborate game. I'm not permitted to share details of what or how this game is played to protect the privacy of the easily embarrassed. So...consider this evidence that they get along most of the time and are capable of creative play that does not entail electricity and /or batteries.

This is back when the first snow fell in November. They were done with schoolwork by 1:30 and dedicated about an hour to packing, repacking, and dressing their doppelgangers.

In fiction and folklore, a doppelgänger (German "double walker") is a paranormal double of a living person, typically representing evil or misfortune. In the vernacular, the word has come to refer to any double or look-alike of a person.
Although the snow people are not evil, some would say what happened to them after two days of sun was unfortunate. However, those bits of snow lasted longest!
